Spam, and Registering for the Forum

Postby pauldear » Sat Nov 30, 2013 5:57 am

Over the last week or so, some spambot has been trying to register on the Forum about 100 times per day.

This means that I get a huge number of requests to activate these new accounts. In most cases, I can see immediately that the username is randomly generated, so I just ignore these requests.

However, it does mean that any genuine requests may get accidentally ignored. So, if you have tried to register but haven't had your account activated, please email me (info@ etc) personally, telling me the username you tried to register under. Also, DON'T make the subject line look like "Activate user account", since this is the subject line on all the automatic (spam) requests and I'm likely to accidentally delete it.

Sorry for the inconvenience!
