We poured our first 12 x 20" (300 x 500mm) grain for our suborbital booster motor last Saturday at FAR and will be casting more next month for a static test. We will also be static testing our 6" (150mm) second stage motor next month. For the booster motor, each grain has a mass of 130 pounds (~55 km) of propellant.

Thanks Jay. The first grain looked great and we finished casting a second last Saturday and a third flight of the Phoenix testing electronics.

Thanks Alex...
We had a very successful static test of the short 2-grain 12" (300 mm) Q-impulse sugar motor today at the FAR site.

Based on the video it looks as though the exhaust was slightly under-expanded, is that by design?

So confident am I of making sugar propellant motors that we skipped doing static tests of our new 6" (150 mm) O-5755 motor. We successfully flew it solo and next will be as the booster for our successful 4" (100 mm) motor. After that, the 6" will become the second stage sustainer on our full scale 12" for a space shot.
