There is a pick on the blog of the construction of the test launcher system for spin stablization check it out!

Hi Monroe,

I can't see your blog - it just comes up as HTML text, on both Safari and Firefox browsers....

That is a bummer. I'll have to fix that. Have to figure out how first :) It works in Internet Explorer but your using a mac huh.

More Progress! Brian is not fooling around! It's great to have another machinist on the team!

Here is an animation of the spin launch made by Dave Hein http://www.youtube.com/user/DaveHein#p/ ... Z0Kpr5pNKE and here is a link that works for Mac users for the blog. http://teamprometheus.org/movies/Blog.html

Nice animation, and nice concept too - I like the simple system for adjusting heading and attitude.

Question - you show what seems to be an active (driven) control of the heading. But presumably the balloon will have some natural rotation anyway; would you be able to spin the rocket up to speed, set the attitude, and then just wait for the balloon to rotate naturally in the right direction?

Some of this some of that I suppose! We are working on trying it out! I'm getting started working on the balloon for a test tomorrow (If I finish this part for SS2S tonight!) We are about to construct one and fly it on our Hydrogen!

Monroe and co - quick thought. When you spin up the spin launcher, isn't it going to try to spin the balloon the opposite way? Will it precess like a gyroscope?

Brian, jumped in and just built it! I donna know? Hahahhahahaa We will test it out near the ground. I'll let everybody know if we have to do extra engineering. Most things don't just work the first time for sure. I am beginning to like trying things rather than figuring so much!
